Bray see double red in Cork
Elite Southern Bishopstown
Bray's Under-19s neared the end of their season with a fractious loss to Cork City at Bishopstown. The Leesiders, who still need points to make a place safe in the Play-offs, struck twice in quick succession just inside the hour. Earlier, Paddy Obijuru had given the visitors the lead, capitalising on defensive weakness, but that was cancelled out by a good finish by Cork's Connor Ellis after the opportunity had been developed by Cian Coleman and Kevin Taylor. Minutes later, a Bray corner had to be cleared off the line, but the scoreline remained unchanged to the break. Ten minutes after the re-start, Gavin Sheridan did well to deny Ellis a second when the former Kinsale man dived to get a head to substitute Timmy Murphy's cross. From the corner kick, however, Liam Cronin finished well, and four minutes later he repeated the dose from another Stuart Murphy flag-kick. And though Paul Murphy popped up with a late consolation, there was no time to claim a leveller and the game ended in ill-discipline, resulting in both Tommy Rowan and Oscar Brennan getting their marching orders. Bray Wanderers team: 51 Gavin Sheridan; 2 Daniel Blackbyrne, 15 Thomas Walsh, 13 Tommy Rowan, 21 Nathan Brennan; 18 Patrick Obijuru, 6 Paul Murphy, 16 Oscar Brennan, 11 Shane Barnes; 12 Ian Coone, 10 Dylan Travers Back to Main Under-19s Page |
