Wanderers started well against their premier division opponents at Jackson Park in Kilternan and forced four corners in the opening five minutes.

Dundalk’s first strike at goal came on 16 minutes when ex-Wanderer Alan Cawley fired over from a free kick.

The visitors began to take control and Ross Gaynor's free from the right on 21 minutes was headed clear for a corner. The corner was cleared to Wayne Hatswell and his strike forced Kane into a good save.

On 26 minutes Dave McGowan broke through the Bray defence and should have opened the scoring but he shot wide.

On 28 minutes Gaynor forced Kane into another save while a minute later Alan Cawley shot just wide of his left hand post.

Dundalk’s pressure eventually resulted in the breakthrough on 31 minutes when Cawley played in Ross Gaynor who fired home to give Kane no chance.

A minute into the second half Shane O’Neill forced Matt Gregg into a save after being set up by Tyrrell.

51 minutes in, Kane made a good double save to deny Neale Fenn and Gaynor in succession.

On 54 minutes Sean Maher fired home from just outside the penalty area to double Dundalk’s lead.

Just after the hour, Shane O’Neill latched onto Ian Tuohy’s through ball and fired under the advancing Gregg to reduce the deficit.

On 64 minutes Cawley’s free kick from the right was turned round the post by Kane.

Dundalk added their third goal on 70 minutes when Cawley played in Fenn and he shot past Kane to secure victory.
