SLIGO ROVERS | 2-1 | BRAY WANDERERS | Mansaram 32, 64 | | Georgescu 81 | | | O'Connor s/pen 58 |
FAI Cup Showgrounds 26 August 2006 Late pressure by the Bray strike force failed to achieve the minimum breakthrough after Sligo had created a 2-0 lead early in the second half. Both goals by Darran Mansaram seemed a mountain to climb as the latter stages approached, but the Bray following had something to celebrate when Chris "Skippy" O'Connor saved what appeared a harsh penalty taken somewhat carelessly by Keith Foy. Thy got a further fillip from a cheeky backheeled goal by Andrei "Franco" Georgescu from a cross by Kieran "Tarzan" O'Brien. But in the end, Sligo had done enough, with Philip Keogh having the best chance for Bray, two minutes into injury time, but shooting wide after good work by Colm Tresson, whose return has proved how much he was missed.
