BRAY WANDERERS | 2-1 | DERRY CITY | Seán Heaney 26 | | Dean Shiels 15 | John Sullivan 94+ | | | |
Premier Carlisle Grounds 22 Oct 2018
Sullivan's exultation To the delight, not to say astonishment, of home fans the Seagulls produced a nailbiting finish and a final three-point result in the Carlisle Grounds this season. Dean Shiels's quarter hour opener for the Candystripes was almost a "here we go again" moment for the Bray faithful, but when Seán Heaney equalised before the break, there was a feeling that something different might happen this time. It took a decent shift from newly-returned home keeper Evan Moran to maintain equality until deep in time added. And it was a Seán Harding shot that provided the opening when it was turned over by Derry keeper Eric Grimes. Jake Kelly took the flag-kick and John Sullivan managed to bundle it into the Derry net. Bray will travel for their last Premier Division encounter of 2018, with Cork City on Friday, in a much changed frame of mind.
