Scottish League Challenge Cup 2019/20

Some changes were made to the format for this year's competition.

The inclusion of four clubs each from the Highland and Lowland Leagues eliminated the need for a preliminary round.

Four clubs from League Two were added to Round 1, and the First and Second Rounds were regionalised.

And the eight invited foreign teams this season, who will enter at the Third Round, are as follows:

Northern Ireland Football League Ballymena United & Glenavon
Welsh Premier League The New Saints & Connahs Quay Nomads
League of Ireland Premier Division Waterford & Bohemians
English National League Solihull Moors and Wrexham

First and Second Round ties level after 90 minutes will be decided by penalties (no Extra Time).

For the Third Round (07/08 Sep), a pre-draw will determine which country was allocated to which pot to avoid two cross-border teams from the same country playing each other in that round.

The Final was fixed for Saturday 28 March at McDiarmid Park, Perth, when Inverness Caledonian Thistle would be 'at home' to Raith Rovers , but on 13 March the Scottish FA suspended all domestic football until further notice, as a consequence of the Covid 19 pandemic. Scottish football resumed in late July 2020, and on 02 October announced that the 2019/20 Final would still be played and would "be scheduled for a date later this season". At the same time the abandonment of the competition for 2020/21 was also announced. At the end of April 2021 the SPFL announced that it was no longer practicable to hold the Final, and the Finalists were declared Joint Winners of the Cup for 2019/20.
