BRAY WANDERERS | 0-3 | BOHEMIANS | | | Madden 9, 14 | | | Brennan 51 |
Premier Carlisle Grounds 23 July 2010
Kane can't find Brennan's finish pic Michael Tierney Bohemians eased past Bray for the second time this season, with a postponed match between the two sides yet to be refixed. Just before kick-off, the listed referee, Tom Connolly, took ill and was replaced by Derek Tomney. In the ninth minute, a Killian Brennan free was met by Owen Heary, whose header allowed striker Paddy Madden to get in a shot which was blocked by the legs of Bray keeper Brian Kane, but Madden followed up on the rebound, firing home from close range with three defenders on the goal-line. Worse was to follow, when Derek Prendergast lost possession and allowed Gareth McGlynn to feed Aaron Greene, who set up Madden to shoot from 10m, having beaten the off-side trap. Meantime, Jake Kelly had a 25m free narrowly over the bar on twelve minutes, and Wanderers should have pulled one back on 25 minutes when Jake Kelly, from the corner flag, found Dane Massey, but Brennan cleared the home defender's header off the line. And the visitors should have made certain just after the half-hour when Glenn Cronin put Greene through, but Kane stood firm to claim at the edge of the area. McGlynn again went close just before the break, but his effort was turned away for a corner by Derek Prendergast. And Bray's last chance of the period went to Graham Kelly, who rceived a neat pass from Daire Doyle, but his header was well blocked and eventually cleared away. Brennan was the creator and finisher of Bohemians' final goal, wrapping the tie up in the 50th minute after a neat one two with Paul Keegan from his own corner, finishing from 25m off Kane's post. Bray had little to offer in reply from then on, though Shane O'Neill finished a low drive wide of Murphy's post following a Kelly past that put him clear. And John Mulroy had a long range effort comfortably gathered by Barry Murphy in the 72nd minute.
