BRAY WANDERERS | 2-0 | ATHLONE TOWN | Ben Feeney 25, 39 | | |
First Division Carlisle Grounds 02 Sep 2022 A well-taken brace by Ben Feeney crowned a dominant first half for the home side, in which skipper Hugh Douglas was almost as often in the opposition penalty area as in his own. The scoreline remained unchanged in a second half during which Athlone came much more into the game, but failed to breach the Bray defence effectively. Substitutions for the Seagulls seemed designed to defend their lead rather than extend it, leading to some dangerous moments in the final quarter hour. But a second win at home, and a rare clean sheet, was a satisfactory return for their night's work.
