BRAY WANDERERS

1-3

CORK CITY

Gary McCabe 66

Karl Sheppard 12, 36

Garry Buckley 30

Premier

A poor enough opening half by both teams nevertheless provided the visitors with a three-goal cushion at the break.

Karl Sheppard opened the scoring inside the quarter hour and Garry Buckley doubled their advantage on the half, before Sheppard popped up to take advantage of a messy defence five minutes later.

With the points effectively in the bag, the Leesiders may have eased up a little in the second period, but Bray improved, especially in defence, and captain Gary McCabe took the bare look off the scoresheet with a beautifully taken free that curled into the top right of Peter Cherrie's net.

In the final minutes Cork strove to restore their three-goal advantage, but despite their one-yard speed advantage over the Seagulls throughout the pitch they were unable to break through again.

As the teams left the pitch, rain which had been threatening throughout opened a sudden downpour, which the pitch at least will welcome.
