Played in driving rain as storm Brian visited Wicklow, the game never had a chance of providing good football.

The most dramatic incident of a draining first period was Gary Shaw's diving header to a Simon Madden ball, which failed to put enough on it to take it into the net, but caused the former Bray man to fall heavily, and after a delay he was stretchered off.

The weather eased a little after the break, and the visitors had somewhat the better of the exchanges in the early part of the half, and it was a little against the run of play that Aaron Greene produced a superb strike to open the scoring with just over a quarter of an hour to play.

And it was in the aftermath of that that Trevor Clarke earned the second card of the game, having also been the recipient of an early caution.
