Colm Keane dead at 70

2022-01-22

Long-time Seagulls supporter and volunteer Colm Keane has died. He was 70, and had been in poor health for some time.

Colm and his wife, RTÉ newscaster Úna O'Hagan, with their son Seán, lived in Bray, and were almost ever-present for home games for several years, but Seán sadly died in 2007 at 20, after a two-year struggle with a rare cancer.

Colm was an award-winning broadcaster and writer, and author of Tales of the Wanderers (Colado, 1998) and More Tales of the Wanderers (Colado, 2000). Both largely comprised interviews with former players of both Bray Wanderers and Bray Unknowns, which were originally published in matchday programmes for Wanderers' home games in the 1990s.

Colm had taken early retirement from RTÉ in 2003, and the couple moved to Co Waterford in recent years.
