Seagulls' Farren Cup Semi given to Bohs

A brief note on social media was only the tip of the iceberg when Bray's involvement in the Mark Farren Cup was ended by the League authorities.

On 27 August, it read "Please note tonight’s Under 17 Mark Farren Cup Semi-Final game v Bohemians in the Carlisle Grounds will not take place owing to circumstances outside our control."

Doubt had surrounded the date of the match when St Patricks Athletic, who had won their quarter-final against Bohemians, were removed from the competition after fielding a suspended player in that match.

Bray were unable to field a team on the date fixed, due to personnel issues and health and safety concerns, and Bohemians were reluctant to delay the tie.

Eventually, at the last moment, the League awarded the semi-final to the Gypsies.
